Company description Swedegas owns and operates the gas grid in Sweden, which extends from Dragör in Denmark to Stenungsund in Sweden. Each year, Swedegas transports energy equivalent to 15 TWh to distributors and customers with direct links. The gas grid supplies natural gas to 33 municipal areas and several combined heat and power plants. Natural gas is also used in 34,000 households and in the transport sector. Swedegas is the hub of the gas market. We assume full responsibility for the long-term development of the gas grid and for ensuring the market has safe, effective and assured access to gas.
LNG Competence description Swedegas and the Port of Gothenburg are planning an LNG terminal as part of a joint project – LNG Terminal Gothenburg, but are also looking to invest in other regions. An initial step in making an LNG terminal a reality is for Swedegas to offer ships the opportunity to bunker LNG at the same time that they load and discharge at the quayside.

Swedegas is working to bring about an open LNG market with unrestricted competition according to the Open Access principle, where the end customer is free to choose its gas provider and to purchase LNG at the best price on the world market. Open Access guarantees that no regional monopoly will arise for an individual gas provider.
