Nordlaks builds the world's first LNG wellboat
Norwegian Nordlaks will build the world's first wellboat equipped with LNG propulsion and battery pack. It provides significant environmental and climate benefits. Emissions of CO2 are reduced by 30% and 90% for NOX. The wellboat will carry live salmon and trout for Nordlaks.
The vessel is designed by NSK Ship Design in Harstad and is being built in Turkey at Tersan Shipyard. The wellboat will be 84 meters long and 19 meters wide, and will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology for handling fish and water quality. The wellboat gets the capacity to carry over 600 tonnes of live salmon and also has very good facilities for the crew.
Expected delivery of the wellboat is in February 2020.
