Polish LNG Platform inauguration

The seminar “LNG for transport and industry” was held on 7.3.2017, during the first day of the Transport Week 2017 conference. At the seminar, on the initiative of the Motus Foundation, were presented several companies of LNG, universities and notcommercial organization. Topics discussed during seminar included LNG for industry, LNG in transport and cooling recovery from LNG tanks.

The seminar was opened by Karolina Lubiejewska, from Motus Foundation, who update development of Go LNG project and introduce the concept of Polish LNG Platform. Next there was official inauguration of Polish LNG Platform with representatives of all partners.

Andrzej Leonczuk from Barter S.A., presented the application and positive aspects of using LNG. He showed examples of typical LNG regasification stations in different industries. The company owned bottling plants of liquid gas and is also engaged in the import and distribution of LNG. More and more factories, public transport companies and other entities use this type of fuel. The market clearly shows the dynamic development of technologies based on the gas, especially after the opening at 2016 the first Polish gas terminal in Swinoujscie. The last large investment of the company in this area was the construction of LNG station supplying dairy plant SM "MLEKPOL" in Kolno, which was opened in the middle of 2016.

Jacek Nowakowski from the Tines gas took the stage next, elaborating on LNG solutions for transport, industry and shipping. In his presentation, besides presenting the company, he said Tines Gas wants to build a network of stations L-CNG (facilities offering liquefied and compressed natural gas). They will be located in 26 places along the Polish section of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T - Trans-European Transport Networks). Therefore, Feb. 7, 2017 r. Company Tines Gas has applied to the European Commission 2 projects under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).

Mariusz Koba, from BEST Systemy Grzewcze, containing presentation about innovative cooling exchangers included in composition of the cold recovery group, used in the process of re-gasification of liquefied gases eg. LNG, 02, CO2 and N. This type of installation is designed to simultaneously supply industrial Customers in the gases and cold energy which is recoverable from the phase transition of liquefied gas in to the gas phase. Thanks to this solution, the Customer can reduce the consumption of electricity power of Their owned standard compressor chillers.

The seminar ended with meeting of partner’s Polish LNG Platform, where were presented action plans for 2017 and discussion about future steps. Representatives of platform will be present during Establishment of the BSR LNG Cluster & Competence Center, 26-27th April, in Vilnus.
