Wismar University of Applied Sciences: Technology, Business and Design

Wismar University of Applied Sciences: Technology, Business and Design is an efficient, innovative as well as regionally and internationally recognised educational and research institution with a long-standing academic tradition. Located in the Hanseatic City of Wismar, the federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Wismar University of Applied Sciences is organised in three faculties: Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Business and Faculty of Design. The cross-linking of these three areas gives a particular hallmark to the Wismar University. With over 6,500 students this regional academic institution is the largest university in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

The European Project Centre is a structural unit of Wismar Business School. The centre aims at implementing and developing innovative and sustainable project ideas for public funding, thus contributing to the regional competitiveness of the region Wismar and the federal State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
The European Project Centre witnesses good command over all relevant methods in project management: application preparation, project development procedures, search for the partners budget planning and project coordination at all stages. In addition to the project management activities, the European Project Centre at the Wismar Business School reveals long-term consulting experiences and competence in such fields as regional development, logistics, innovation, entrepreneurship, network design and cluster building. A further activity focus of the centre is marketing research. Research activities result in studies and surveys on specific topics that deliver a comprehensive basis for further investigations. The European Project Centre has been implementing mainly the EU funded projects. Within the last years, there were finalised ten projects with the participation of the Wismar Business School, for instance, the Interreg IV A Project "Oversize Baltic", the Interreg III B Project "LogOn Baltic" etc. Currently, The Wismar Business School is involved into eight projects run largely within the cross-border and transnational EU Programmes. The focus has been laid on diverse fields, for instance, logistics within the Interreg IV A Project "Baltic.AircCargo.Net", design management along the South Baltic Sea Region (Interreg IV A Project "DesignSHIP"). Within the MarTech LNG project, the Wismar University of Applied Sciences: Technology, Business and Design is responsible for the Component 3 implementation: LNG Knowledge and Partnership Platform.
The Wismar University of Applied Sciences, together with its branch at Rostock-Warnemünde for Maritime Studies offers 14 degree programmes. The Department of Maritime Studies at Rostock-Warnemüde carries on a tradition of nautical training. Experienced university lecturers, knowledgeable staff members and well-equipped laboratories provide a perfect setting for applied research work, academic innovations and continuing education.

With regard to these particular competences and relevant activities that can be employed in regional LNG development-related projects as well as long-term cooperation with sound business record, the Wismar University of Applied Sciences aims at accelerating cooperation between business and science in terms of LNG. The main tasks of the Wismar University are to coordinate the knowledge development groups and to lead the information collection and evaluation processes needed for the LNG Knowledge and Partnership Platform.
