Successful LNG Workshop during International Conference

Special LNG Value Chain training, offered by Baltic Sea Region (BSR) Competence Centre, was a valuable didactic event gathering everyone interested in deepening knowledge about best practices involving LNG in energy and transport sectors. The seminar took place during Transport Week 2018 on 7th March in Gdansk, Poland.

The scope and composition of training covered properties, threats and operations related to LNG and ways in which the LNG can be used as a fuel or a source of heat or cold, as well. Participants from Baltic Sea Region countries, representing providers of LNG technologies, LNG suppliers, science institutions, maritime authorities, ship owners attended and contributed to the main topic – LNG Value Chain.

The morning session, focused on security and safeness during LNG operations, presented by speakers from DNV GL, Wroclaw University of Science and Technology and NPPE Klaipeda Shipping Research Centre. Second session continued with precautions to prevent threats on the ship and during work by representatives from Maritime University of Szczecin and presentations of LNG supply chain from Nauticor and Emerson Process Management.

The afternoon session aimed at LNG adaptation in sea ports, conversion of ship’s propulsion to LNG fueled and overland small scale LNG. Industry and academic leaders from Bleking Insitute of Technology, Remontowa Marine Design & Consulting, Gaz-System, Port of Gdynia and Barter Gaz shared the experience from the Baltic Sea Region.
